タカベの群れにカンパチ！　＠神子元

本日も神子元で潜ってきました！

陸の上は立っているだけで汗が吹き出すほどの猛暑で、「今すぐ海に飛び込みたい！」という気持ちに。船の上で吹き抜ける風だけが唯一の救いでした。

海のコンディションは大きな変化がなく、ずっと待っている「青くて温かい潮」はまだお預け状態。それでも、エリアによってはところどころ綺麗で明るい潮が入っている場所もありました。そろそろ抜けるような青い海と温かい潮で潜りたいところですね。

コンディションは我慢の展開でしたが、水中は今日も圧巻の魚影で大興奮！

イサキ、ニザダイ、メジナの巨大な群れに加えて、一番のハイライトはタカベの群れへ突っ込むカンパチのアタック！ 猛スピードで襲いかかられながらも、見事な集団防衛で身を守るタカベたちの攻防には本当に感動しました。

さらにその周りでは、アタックのおこぼれをちゃっかり狙うメジロザメの姿も。野生のリアルな生態系ドラマを間近で体感できた、大満足の一本でした！

Dived at Mikomoto again today!

It was scorching hot on land--so hot I couldn't stand it and just wanted to jump straight into the ocean. The breeze on the boat was the only thing keeping us cool!

The water conditions haven't changed much, and the warm, crystal-clear water we've been waiting for hasn't fully arrived yet. Still, we did hit a few pockets of clearer water here and there. I really can't wait to dive in that warm, tropical-blue ocean again!

Even with the so-so conditions, the marine life definitely didn't disappoint today.

We were surrounded by massive schools of chicken grunts (isaki), scalefin surgeonfish (nizadai), and rudderfish (mejina).

The absolute highlight, though, was watching a greater amberjack (kanpachi) launch a predatory attack on a massive school of yellowstriped butterfish (takabe)! Seeing the takabe put up such an incredible defense formation against the hunter was breathtaking. To top it off, sandbar sharks (mejirozame) were lurking around the edges, waiting to snatch up any leftovers.

It was an amazing dive filled with the raw drama of nature!
