中層の極意＠神子元

本日の神子元は、
潮の流れがほとんどなく、透視度も8〜10mほどとやや白っぽいコンディション。
ここ最近の好調な海とは少し違い、なかなか厳しい一日となりました。
エントリー後は、中層をメインにハンマーヘッドシャークを探して広範囲を移動。
潮が止まっている影響もあって海の中は静かで、魚たちの群れも少なく、
イサキやタカベの大群も今日は控えめな様子でした。
それでも、「次の根を越えたらいるかもしれない」と期待しながら、ひたすら中層を泳ぎ続けます。
神子元では、この何も見えない時間でさえ期待感に包まれ、いつハンマーが飛び出してきてもおかしくない緊張感があります。
しかし、その期待に応えてくれることはなく、今日は最後までハンマーヘッドシャークの姿を見ることはできませんでした。
自然相手の海だからこそ、毎日同じ景色はありません。
潮がしっかり動く日もあれば、今日のように穏やかで静かな日もあります。
思うような結果にならない日もありますが、その分、
ハンマーリバーや魚影に囲まれる神子元に出会えた時の感動は格別です。
今日は悔しさの残る一日となりましたが、この悔しさがあるからこそ、また神子元へ潜りたくなる。
そんな海の奥深さを改めて感じる一日でした。

明日の神子元はクローズが確定いたしました。

Today's conditions at Mikomoto were quite different from the excellent diving we've been enjoying recently.
There was almost no current, and visibility was around 8-10 meters with a slightly milky appearance, making for a challenging day underwater.
After entering the water, we spent most of the dives swimming through the blue, covering a wide area in search of hammerhead sharks. With the lack of current, the ocean felt unusually calm, and even the schools of fish were sparse. The usual large schools of yellowtail and sea chub were much quieter than normal.
Even so, we kept swimming with the feeling that "maybe just over the next reef, they'll appear." That's one of the unique attractions of Mikomoto--every moment in the blue water is filled with anticipation, as hammerheads could emerge at any second.
Unfortunately, that moment never came today, and we finished the day without encountering any hammerhead sharks.
The ocean is always changing, and that's part of what makes diving at Mikomoto so special. Some days the current is perfect and the sharks are everywhere, while other days are calm and quiet like today. Although the results weren't what we had hoped for, it is exactly these challenging days that make the unforgettable moments--being surrounded by a hammerhead river and massive schools of fish--even more rewarding.
It was a frustrating day, but it also reminded us why we keep coming back. The unpredictability of the ocean is what makes every dive at Mikomoto an adventure.
Unfortunately, Mikomoto has been confirmed closed for tomorrow due to sea conditions. We look forward to welcoming everyone back when the ocean is ready to show its best once again.
